New Shift Trade Feature
Posted On: Jan 11, 2016
The new web page has an optional feature for requesting and responding to shift trades. The Shift Trades feature is located in the Member Resources menu.
To request a shift trade, go to the Shift Trades page under Member Resources. In the Shift Trade Menu, use the drop down toolbar and select “Request a Trade”. On the shift trade form, complete the details of the shift you are looking for coverage; classification, station, dates and times. In additional details, include any specifics such as “must have PSRD certification”, “union time”, etc. Once you click ‘Save Trade Request’, an email will be sent to all active members in the identified trade classification.
To claim a shift trade request, select ‘Respond’ on the request. Indicate ‘yes’, you want to accept this shift trade and click ‘Send Message’. The requestor will be notified that you have accepted the trade. The trade must then be entered in Telestaff for approval by the Battalion Chief.
Each member profile only includes one default shift trade classification. If you are interested in trades for other classifications, for example, you are an Engineer but are also interested in trades for Firefighter or Lieutenant, it is recommended that you log in to the web page regularly and view the Shift Trades page to see all pending requests.
To change your default shift trade classification, for example, you are a Firefighter but only want to receive notifications for Engineer shift trade requests, log in to the web page and select ‘Account’ at the top of the page above the IAFF logo. Scroll half way down the page and, under ‘Trade’, use the drop down menu to select the classification for which you automatically want to receive requests. The default classification was set up with each member’s current classification as of November 16, 2015. Don’t forget to update your default trade classification upon promotion!
